It’s mid August … that means NFL and NCAA football are just around the corner. In fact, the first preseason NFL games start tomorrow! I don’t count the HOF game last week. I just love football season, and it’s not just because I run like seven football websites (Gator Envy, Fight Song Lyrics, Tim Tebow Zone to name a few) but because I love going to the games, watching them on TV and playing fantasy football.
I’m a little sad though because after being a Jacksonville Jaguars season ticket holder for the last 4 years, I decided against renewing my season tickets. It’s not because the Jags suck; I would watch them play every game even if they were 0-16. There are several reason I didn’t renew. One being the economy and $1000 can be better spent elsewhere. Two, it’s tough to make it to all the games (things pop up like weddings, vacations, etc that make you miss a game or two). And three, I want to go to more Gator games this year. This is Tim Tebow’s final year as a Gator and I’d like to watch him play a few games in the Swamp before he leaves. Going to both Gator and Jaguar games on the same weekend is quite draining… so the Jags got the boot. I’ll still watch every minute of the games on TV and will likely go to 1-2 home games anyway.
Back to the first reason why I love football season, it’s because I run so many football websites. Traffic and revenue increases exponentially during the months of August – January. The Gator Envy discussion forums get really active with like 40-50 members online every day. It’s great.
I’ll probably be making more posts about football in the coming months. Maybe include some video/pictures of the games I go to.

1Huge Pat’s fan here. Grow up in New England and now live in Donkey Country. The Donkey fans out here are not even really fans. You’ll see them on Sunday shopping at the mall while their team is playing. Ask most of them who the quarterback is and they’ll tell you Elway
