So it’s Sunday afternoon and after a long day of hanging out at the beach, I’ve decided to sit down and watch TV. Right now, I’m watching Man vs. Wild with Bear Grylls. As he hikes through the Yukon and bites a fresh trout (while it’s alive) out of the river it reminds me of a video I saw on Youtube a couple of months ago.

This guy is like a modern day Thoreau. The video is called “Alone in the Wilderness” and it’s the story of Dick Proenneke, a man who gave it all up in retirement to move to the Alaskan Wilderness. He built his own cabin (which they show in the video) and hunted/fished for his own food.  The video is pretty cool because this guy filmed himself (like on Survivor Man) and had a friend fly in with new film reels every so often.  Check it out.
