My wife and I spent all weekend redoing our front yard landscaping. Saturday was spent gutting everything, including 5 dead hibiscus plants, while Sunday was spent planting all the new stuff. Normally, people wouldn’t rip up hibiscus plants, but this year we had several hard freezes that just killed them. It looked like a bunch of sticks. Ripped the hibiscus plants out took a lot of hard work because their roots run deep.

So I have a couple of pictures for you. The first one is a “before picture”. Although, it was taken a few months ago prior to the freezes… just look how bad it is in the first picture and then image everything dead, and that’s how it looked before our work. When we moved in, all the shrubs were overgrown because the house was vacant for 7 months.

This is another “before” picture, showing two hibiscus plants on the sides of the garage.

And now for the “after pictures”. The results of 14-15 hours of hard labor in the beating sun. As you can see we put in many new plants, redid the landscaping liner and put down new mulch. If you look closely, you can also tell our front door is black now, and has a knocker + kick plate.

The two plants in front of the columns by the front door are just babies. They grow to about 4 ft tall, same with the ones by the garage. We also planted an azalea on the side of the house, but I did not take a picture of it.

Next up is the backyard. Luckily it’s a blank slate so we won’t have to spend an entire day gutting everything.
