I couldn’t think of anything to post about, but wanted to write something since it’s been so long since I blogged. A few minutes ago I was reminded of a game I played last night, and thought I could write about my Top 5 Favorite Video Games.

I rarely play video games anymore. When I was in high school and college I played a ton, especially when you have roommates and Xbox Live was just coming out. Now that I’m married, work full-time, and run an online business… video games take a back seat. I’ll probably log 1-3 hours of gaming a month now.

No. 5 Tennis 2k2
Tennis 2k2 on Dreamcast was a near perfect game. The single player was excellent and extremely difficult, while the multiplayer couldn’t be better. There were so many days and nights of my sophomore year that my roommates and I played Tennis 2k2. We played 1v1 and 2v2 tournaments. I always rolled with Tony Haas or Thomas Enqvist. The battles we had were so intense.

No. 4 Starcraft
Played this game a ton back in like middle school. Never played the single player campaign. It was all about multiplayer. Usually 2v2 or 3v3 matchups. I loved played with Humans because you could nuke people, but Protoss was also sweet because they had the best missile defense system, and you could build things without wasting a peon.

No. 3 NBA 2k2
Another classic Dreamcast game. Probably the best Dreamcast game ever. Played this game for years, mostly during my junior and senior year of college. Always battling with my roommates. Couple of rules though… no one could play with the 80s East All-Stars. Larry bird was automatic!

No. 2 World of Warcraft
Best MMORPG of all-time. Played this my senior year of college. Even though I loved this game, I just never had the time to compete with everyone else. The highest I ever got my character was like level 42. The graphics are killer and the environment is so massive. I’m not sure you can ever find everything or visit every place in the entire game. Could be No. 1 if I had more time to play it.

No. 1 Defense of the Ancients – Warcraft III: TFT
Not many people know about DOTA. It’s not mainstream because it’s a game that lives within Warcraft III: TFT. Even though Warcraft III is like 7 years old or something, this game is still going strong. It’s a 5v5 online game where each person controls a hero. I played this with my roommate Tony for hours and hours. This is the game I picked up last night that inspired today’s post. It’s not a game that you need to log 600 hours to have a good character. Each game is only about 45 minutes and your hero starts fresh every time. It’s a perfect blend of RPG, action, slashing and strategy. My main characters: Rogue Knight, Dragon Knight, and Troll.

Honorable Mention: Counter Strike
I almost flunked Chemistry 2045 my Freshman year of college because of this game. Everyone in the dorms played it on the schools LAN. It was insane.
