Over the weekend my Comast (actually it’s a Motorola) cable internet modem decided to quit on me. I still have a connection to the internet, but it’s worse then dial up speeds.
After talking with a Comcast support specialist for almost an hour on Saturday, he determined that it was a defective modem that was causing my connection issues. I headed over to speedtest.net and had some horrible download speeds of 80 kbps. Uploads were fine at around 950 kbps, so I don’t know what gives. We performed this test on both my desktop and laptop, so I know it’s not an issue with my computers.
Normally I wouldn’t consider this a big deal. I get to swap out my current modem for free. The issue is that Comcast is only open form 9:00 – 6:00, coincidently the same hours I work every day. Getting to them for the swap won’t be fun.
I heard Comcast is on twitter @comcastcares. Maybe if I complain with them I can get a modem delivered to my house.
