Last week I registered my Twitter name. Not sure yet if I’ll use it, but I know if there is no action on the account in a year’s time, then it gets tossed back into the mix and someone else can register it.
I run the Twitter account for the company I work for, so I’m very well versed in how it works and the interaction/networking that can happen on twitter. During Affiliate Summit West in Vegas, the amount of Twitter usage going on was insane. I remember walking into the keynote, sitting down and checking my tweets… sure enough there’s a new tweet coming in from @nickycakes saying something like “bored… if anyone else is, I’m in the back row”. Sure enough I turn around and there he is. Everyone was using Twitter (thanks to smartphones) to say where they are or where they are going. ASW09 was the first time I’ve really seen the power of Twitter.
Now, I’m not sure yet if I want to us it for a personal account. Now sure if I really have that much to say. I wouldn’t get on Twitter while at work, so it would be something like “off to work…” then 9 hours later “home from work”. Not really interesting stuff. I can see more use of Twitter for those of you who work from home or are always out traveling.
None of my personal friends use Twitter, so it would mostly be used to keep in contact with the blogger/affiliate/seo crowd. I’ll think about it and let ya’ll know if I ever start tweeting.
