Well, we’ve been home owners for about a month now, and officially moved in for about 3 weeks. We’ve done a lot of work around the house, but by the looks of it you’d think we haven’t done much at all. The house has come a long way since it’s bareness when we purchased it, but we’re still living out of some boxes and the two guest rooms are completely filled with our stuff.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve purchased stainless steel appliances, put down wood floors (we used engineered hardwood… we didn’t like the feel and sound of the fake floating floors, and we don’t use real hardwood in Florida because we have concrete slabs), and we laid tile in the kitchen. We also have a security system installed.

This weekend we have a lot of cleaning to do, and more minor projects around the house. Here are a couple of pictures so you can see the progress. For reference, please check the photos in my first house update… you’ll see a big change.

The first photo is the little foyer/entry way by the front door. The house used to have that linoleum crap down on the floor. We ripped it up and put in some tile with a nice border around it. On the other side, we also painted the front door black and added a nice metallic kick plate and knocker (no picture of this yet).

This next picture is what our study looked like before.

Now you can see we have the hard wood floors throughout. The study has a book shelf (you can’t see it), the computer desk, and a small chair. The chair will soon be replaced by a money leather recliner. Also need some dual monitors to complete the desk…

This is a picture of the dining room. Still has our old kitchen table in it. A new dining room set is on our to do list.

This is a picture of the kitchen in progress. It’s got some tile down, but still has that disgusting linoleum on the one side.

Now the kitchen is finished, with appliances in place. Counters are still messy, but we’ll be cleaning up soon. On our to do list is to completely strip the cabinets, sand them down and repaint or refinish them… follow that up with new counter tops. The cabinets and countertop in place now are an eye sore.

Living room is pretty bare right now. We need to buy a new sectional sofa and some type of entertainment stand for the TV and sound system. Got the floors in, so that looks good.

Master bedroom is half complete. We have the wood floors in, but have not tiled the master bathroom yet. We also have a whole new bed set just sitting in the extra room.. we’ll probably put that on this weekend.

So there’s your midway update. Still a ton of work to do before we complete this house. A couple of other things I need to do are finish the fence, wire the surround sound speakers, add new recessed lighting in the kitchen, and add new light fixtures in all the bathrooms.

Part of me thinks the work will never end.
