One of my newer sites, Forum Business Blog, is about one month old now (or more, I can’t remember). I am very disappointed with the growth of FBB thus far. Since launch, I have posted 18 times and have 12 comments. I’ve put hours and hours into this site. The posts are not easy to make. Some of them require planning and research (something I don’t really do with this blog).
On average it only gets like 8-10 uniques/day and makes $0 in revenue (except for one private ad I sold for $5). I’m not quite sure what I’m doing wrong. The “if you build it, they will come” rule is not applying to this site. In my opinion the posts are very informational and beneficial to forum owners, and webmasters in general. The design of the site looks good to me, so that’s not what’s keeping people from coming back. Maybe there just aren’t enough forum owners?
What to do about it?
Starting posting more in webmaster and forum admin message boards with a link to FBB in my sig. This is something I meant to do from the get go, but haven’t yet. Paying for advertising at this point is not an option. Since my Google penalty, I am hurting for money and have not a dime to spare.
At times I feel it is hard for me to post on FBB. Not because I don’t want to, but because there is only so much to say when it comes to being a forum owner. I started posting daily, but have recently dropped to like 3 times a week. Perhaps if I bump back up to daily posting, traffic will increase?
All I know is this website needs to do something or I’ll start to get pissed and end up ignoring it. And that’s not good for anyone.

1Hey David, how are you?
Hit me with an e-mail and I’ll gladly help you out. I’ve taken OffBeatInk.com from 0 – 20,000 uniques in the first month alone but the techniques are too long to describe in a comment.
p.s. When you get a minute my blog is back online and I’ve added a video, I’d really appreciate your comments.
Thanks,
Khalid.

2I’ve got FBB in my feed reader and to be fair your not doing anything new or interesting.
Firs of all the name is a clear rip of net business blog and that just seems tacky. Lots of your target audience will have been aware of NBB.
Second of all your not telling us anything that Lee Dodd didn’t back when he was the forum guru with his podcast and website. Lee had forums people could see were bustling with activity and it gave him credibility.
You need to actually start a forum, and implement your teachings and prove that they are successful…a case study if you will.

3Well, you’re not doing much with the title of the blog. You need to do some SEO and get more search traffic

5David for some reason doesn’t like to say what he earns. Even though he could be far more popular and earning more…

6I used to post my earnings on here, but once I started making “good money”, I don’t like to share actual earnings with everyone.
If you walk down the street and ask someone how much they make, it’s kind of rude and most people won’t tell you.
But there’s some nice tips here and I’ll take them into account.

7If you’re going to actually prove that you’re a forum “master”, which you need to do on your blog, you need to actually prove it.

8Forums require a lot of work. I commend you for putting up one. Every inch of dedication will get you places. Just don’t loose hope. Why don’t you try some link exchange or banner exchange with some forums? Some allow it for free.
Best of luck,
Aurelius

9hey david,
y don’t use tactics to involve existing forum owners and high profile forum members on board…
I am thinking out loud here.. how about doing some interviews with forum owners, get some case studies going … just some of the stuff that came to my mind…

10[...] FBB Seems to Be Struggling David isn’t really proud of his success with his newest website. Forum Business Blog has been out for nearly a month now and haven’t accomplished much. He needs your help with some advices to better his new blog. [...]

11I agree on many items mentioned above, David. Forums don’t get active with 5 postings a week in a fairly saturated market. You will need to stand out with something to attract visitors and to turn them into active members.

FBB isn’t actually a forum. It’s a blog.
