To Joe and anyone else it may concern:

If you right click on the sound card name rather than type it into Google search, etc., your system will search for driver updates and install them for you.

Best of luck, folks.

Is it the sound card even if there are no question marks by it when you look in the Device Manager? I am having the same problem. I have no problem with my speakers hooked into the same card. I've always been told don't fix what isn't broken and the device manager doesn't see any problems with the drivers for the card. I'm leary to try updating drivers if that's not what it is.

Not sure if this response is too late...
Regardless, its possible that the drivers and/or audio control software on your computer need to be downloaded. You'll need to check your device. To check what your audio device is, go to control panel and click 'Performance and Maintenance'. In the next window, look for an icon called 'system'. A window will appear titled 'system properties'. In this system properties window, look for the tab at the top that says 'Hardware' and open it. At the top of this section you will see a button for the 'Device manager', open it. Once the device manager has opened, scroll down the list of devices and look for the line that says 'Sound, video and game controllers'. Double-click it and look for your sound card name. Type this line into google (or your preferred search engine) and add the words "Driver Download" to you search. Hopefully from there you will find a free driver download for your sound device. Once you successfully download the driver, install it and restart your computer. If you get stuck along the way feel free to email me with questions. Best of luck, hope this helps.
