Does anyone else think submitting your sites to web directories is the most tedious, boring process? Yet at the same time, it is one of the most rewarding. I understand now why webmasters will pay people to submit their sites for them. It took me almost 1 hour to submit 5 sites to like 5 directories. But if you can submit your sites to 5 directories a day, Google will have some serious love for you with all those backlinks.

Every webmaster really should take advantage of submitting to free, no reciprocal directories. No matter how long and boring it takes you. You can find a long list of free directories to submit to in DigitalPoint’s Solicitations & Announcements forum.

Some people also buy featured listings on directories. And on the extremely popular directories, you will have to pay for regular listings too. These directories are generally high in PageRank or have a lot of traffic. I personally would not pay much more than a few bucks for a directory listing. But maybe that is just me?

My MySpace Directory has been getting a little over 80 uniques a day. Those are legit uniques too. There are not coming from spamming bulletins or anything. They come from Google and backlinks. I have decided to stop giving out free regular links. Webmasters can still submit their site for free though provided they give a reciprocal link as well. Prices are now $1 for a regular link and $5 for a featured link. And that is per month. Pretty cheap I think, especially since the site is on the rise.
